KSRC Members Turned Up In Full Force At Covid-19 Vaccination Drive

Back

About 500 members of the KLCC Sports and Recreation Club (KSRC), received their Covid-19 vaccination via the MYMedic@Wilayah Mobile Vaccine Truck programme held on 13 July 2021 at Menara Dayabumi.

KSRC, together with the KLCC Pandemic Preparedness Response Team (KPRT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Territories held the vaccination drive for its members who are frontliners and essential services staff, in a full day programme under stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and close supervision of the KPRT.  This is also part of KSRC’s social responsibility in addressing the needs of its members and the opportunity to enroll in the vaccination programme was hugely welcomed. This collaboration also demonstrated KSRC’s determination in supporting the Government’s National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) towards achieving herd immunity.

The Ministry’s effort in reaching out to the community of the Federal Territories has allayed the concern of the Club members, who, in carrying out their daily work in buildings and plants are exposed to the risks of Covid-19 infection.  This proactive measure will help to ensure that they are able to carry out their responsibilities in a safer environment and unhindered by the constraints caused by the pandemic while contributing towards breaking the chain of infection which is very critical in bringing us closer to the end of this deeply concerning health crisis.

Lending support to the Club was the patron of the KSRC and Group Chief Executive Officer, Encik Md Shah Mahmood who visited the venue to have a closer look at the vaccination exercise and to meet the KSRC members and volunteers of the programme.

KSRC’s President, Mohd Samli Ibrahim said, the need to get its members vaccinated was also spurred by the Club’s determination to resume activities towards the well-being  of its members which has long been disrupted by the pandemic. The Club’s members are looking forward to organise and participate in the Club’s activities when the lockdown restrictions are fully lifted, and social activities are permitted.

Mohd Thabrani Marwan, one of the members who received his vaccination on that day commented, “It was a very smooth process and took only 30 minutes from when I arrived and registered to when I got vaccinated. It was a good and pleasant experience and I would like to thank the Ministry of Federal Territories, KPRT and KSRC for bringing the vaccines to us.”

The MYMedic@Wilayah Mobile Vaccine Truck proramme is among four measures being implemented in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan to achieve herd immunity which was targeted for late August or early September.

The objective of the programme is to bring vaccines closer to the people who are underserved, high-risk groups, essential workers and the rural communities, that experience issues with mobility, long-distance travelling, work schedules and limited access to health care provider.

This new concept of smaller-scale mobile vaccination, set in a truck can accommodate up to three persons at a time, and is coordinated by Optimax Eye Specialist Centre Sdn Bhd, the appointed Health care organiser (HCO) who has already administered close to 50,000 Covid-19 doses to people of all walks of life in just over a month from the commencement of its participation in the Government’s PICK programme.
