Looking distinguished in his black tie attire, Datuk Hashim Wahir received the industry’s coveted award – the Property CEO of the Year at Malaysia Property Award 2019 organised by FIABCI Malaysian Chapter on 2nd November 2019.

In the 12 years since he was appointed as CEO, Datuk Hashim has successfully transformed the KLCC Group from just a property company to Malaysia’s largest Real Estate Investment Trust, the country’s only Stapled Security.  Comprising KLCC Property Holdings Berhad and KLCC REIT, KLCCP Stapled Group represents a diversified office-focused REIT compromising five Grade-A offices which includes the nation’s iconic landmark, the PETRONAS Twin Towers, a premier retail mall and a luxury hotel.

Datuk Hashim was also acknowledged for his steadfastness in leading the largest Malaysian REIT who also witnessed the Group strengthening its growth and financial position since its listing in 2013.  The Group has since recorded revenue growth of 9.5% and delivered stable and sustainable returns to its holders of Stapled Securities exceeding 10%, in spite of challenging market landscape.

Passionate about creating values and bringing people together, Datuk Hashim ensures the Group’s efforts translates into positive impact for its stakeholders and the community at large.  He coined KLCC Precinct as “The Place” – creating places people look forward to – be it the place to work, shop, stay, dine and play. His forthright stewardship saw the birth of “Malaysia’s Iconic Experience in Kuala Lumpur” (MIEKL), the Group’s Iconic Malaysia project in collaboration with eleven of its business partners to promote Kuala Lumpur City Centre as a must-visit destination.

Through his chairmanship, Datuk Hashim also led a facility management company, KLCC Urusharta Sdn Bhd which has seen the evolution from a mere facility management provider which complements the property portfolio to a Solutions Partner today in enriching lives of the tenants, maintaining office buildings in pristine condition and ensuring the safety and comfort of all tenants.

Datuk Hashim’s commitment towards quality excellence saw him leading KLCC Parking Management Sdn Bhd as the first parking management company to receive the Integrated Management System Certification of ISO 14001:2015, ISO: 9001:2019 and OHSAS 18001:2007 and was also listed in the Malaysia Book of Records in 2018.

In accepting the award, the humble Datuk Hashim stressed that the credit belongs not to one man or the CEO alone.  Paying tribute to the PETRONAS visionary leaders for transforming the 100-acre turf club into the iconic KLCC, he thanked our leaders, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the late Tun Azizan Zainul Abidin and Tan Sri Hassan Marican, who were involved in the development of the KLCC master plan, which saw the relocation of the PETRONAS headquarters from Dayabumi.

As a visionary man himself, Datuk Hashim’s aspiration is for KLCC to continue to be the heart of Kuala Lumpur, progressing lifestyle towards a digitally smart, connected and sustainable city.
